MMDA Acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes Receives Raul Roco Award


Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes received the 2024 Senator Raul S. Roco Award for Public Service Excellence from San Beda University (SBU) Alumni Association during the agency’s flag raising ceremony today, February 19 at the MMDA Head Office in Pasig City.

The award was presented by Atty. Dominador D. Buhain, President of the SBU Alumni Association and Member of the Board of Trustees and Dr. Joffre M. Alajar, Executive Director of SBU Alumni Association.

According to Atty. Buhain, “In selecting Chairman Atty. Don Artes to receive the 2024 Raul S. Roco Award for Public Service Excellence, the Bedan Community recognizes his distinguished work as leader of our very dynamic and progressive Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, as evidence by initiatives, programs and projects that resulted in significant improvements in the life of the nation.”

In his acceptance speech, Atty. Artes thanked Atty. Buhain, Dr, Alajar, and the family of the late senator Roco for choosing him as the recipient of the prestigious award.

He also dedicated the award to every employee of the agency stating that he was able to receive such a prestigious award because of the help and support of each employee of MMDA.

“Rest assured bilang inyong Chairman mas pagbubutihin ko pa ang pag-lead sa agency para mas marami tayong magawa at mas makilala pa ang MMDA na isang ahensiya na ginagampanan ang kanyang trabaho,” said Chairman Artes.

Atty. Artes graduated from San Beda University with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Accountancy in 1993. He also obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the same university in 1998.

In 2007, the San Beda Alumni Association together with Mrs. Sonia Roco and family established the Raul S. Roco Award for Public Service Excellence. This award is given to give recognition to a Bedan who exemplifies the ideals of the late Senator and the exemplary service he rendered to the Filipino nation during his lifetime.
