To support and participate in space projects, UPHSD proposes to construct the PerpSat1 Ground Station, which will be utilized by students and teachers to successfully link with artificial satellites in orbit utilizing specified frequencies. The ASEANSAT nanosatellite is a collaboration project of the University of Perpetual Help Las Pinas (UPHSD) and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UITM), Malaysia, and was launched in October 2022. The ground station is based on the UPD ARSS ground station and modified to connect with the ASEANSAT nanosatellite. The project also seeks to post-process the data gathered from the ground station and turn it into information that will address local, regional, and international issues like weather and air quality monitoring. PERPSTAT 1 will also strengthen the curriculum of the BS in Electronics Engineering and the BS in Aeronautical Engineering, as well as the STEM-SPACE Program for Senior High School.

While the second initiative focuses on the growing number of connected Internet of Things devices. There will likely be 22 billion gadgets in use worldwide by 2020. 47% of firms foresee increased IoT investments in reaction to the COVID-19 outbreak, while 35% have already cut back on their IoT spending. IoT goods and services are expected to rise swiftly to meet the expectations of expanding businesses and even consumers. Understanding IoT is crucial for providing opportunities for developing human resources that support the current issues related to the implementation of smart cities and the growing IoT industry in the Philippines. This is especially true in relation to system design, development, prototyping, testing, and implementation. To explore new concepts, technologies, systems, and communication paradigms applied to wireless networks, the project’s overarching goals include the construction of a research laboratory. The laboratory facility will support IoT system design, development, prototyping, implementation, and testing. It will also act as a location for IoT-focused research, development, and training for students, faculty, engineers, researchers, and business professionals.
