From the Office of the Communications Secretary on the Marawi incident, 29 Nov. 2016

Between 1030 to 1100 today, a convoy of Presidential Security Group (PSG) personnel, Radio TV Malacanang (RTVM), and local troop escorts were waylaid via a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) while en route to Marawi.

Nine persons have been reported injured, consisting of 7 PSG members and 2 regular troops escorting them.  Most were slightly injured except for one PSG member who sustained serious injuries.

A presidential chopper immediately airlifted the seriously injured and four others for emergency care.  The rest were given first-aid treatment. Rest assured that all shall be given immediate medical attention.

The President has consistently expressed concern for uniformed personnel who bravely walk in harm’s way so we can live in peace and freedom. We assure our brave men and women who put their lives on the line for duty and country that their Commander-in-Chief will never abandon them in their time of need.
