Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar gave this advice to the public in the midst of holiday merry-making as typhoon Nina moves toward Batangas.

“We advise the public to get regular updates from the PAGASA and other government websites or social media accounts,” Secretary Andanar added.

As of 8AM today, Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal # 3 has been raised in Southern Quezon, Marinduque, Northern Oriental Mindoro, Lubang Island and Laguna.  Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal # 2, on the one hand, has been raised in Metro Manila, Rizal, Northern Quezon including Polilio Islands, Bulacan, Bataan, Pampanga, Southern Zambales, Rest of Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Northern Occidental Mindoro, Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur.

“The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to monitor Typhoon Nina and since yesterday has activated its Response Clusters to monitor and facilitate emergency response humanitarian assistance,” Secretary Andanar said.

The DSWD has a total of 39,801 Family Food Packs (FFPs) on stock at its National Resource Operations Center (NROC); of which, 18,923 FFPs are available for allocation while the 20,878 FFPs are for delivery to different field offices.###MARO-CONTENT
