Event 4th Anniversary Celebration of the Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center-Agusan del Sur
Location San Francisco, Agusan del Sur

I celebrate with you in spirit the turning of a new leaf for the Department of Health-Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center. Happy anniversary to each and everyone!

This is an event that marks a clear victory in our continuous fight against illegal drugs.

It is a collective success that must be shared among all of us, especially those who have taken the opportunity to be rehabilitated and given a new lease on life.

I recognize the hard work and dedication of the medical staff, medical team, and volunteers of the Center, who have been instrumental in the recovery of those under their care.

Because of you, we have helped many of our citizens shun these dangerous vices so that they can return to society as healthier and more productive individuals.

This government believes that drug dependence is a serious mental health condition.

If left untreated, it becomes a growing social problem and a significant public health issue.

Conversely, the lack of access to treatment for substance abuse results in chronic illnesses and other adverse social effects on the community.

We must take a whole-of-nation approach to seriously curb the proliferation of illegal drugs.

This includes prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and law enforcement to ensure that we implement the Philippine Anti-Illegal Drug Strategy and eradicate this health and social menace once and for all.

This also entails the cooperation of government and private sector through early intervention and education in schools, awareness campaigns, and community-based solutions and initiatives.

The success of this facility shows that rehabilitation continues to be a vital component of our holistic plan.

Amidst the harsh realities of drug abuse, this treatment center remains a sanctuary, where individuals can find healing, compassion, and recovery.

In our pursuit of helping individuals rebuild their lives, we need a supportive environment, like what we have here, to facilitate our patients’ transformation.

Thus, we will continue to empower individuals to regain control over their lives and find a renewed sense of purpose to guide them on their path towards strength.

Moreover, I call on every Filipino to be part of our fight against illegal drugs. Be vigilant, report drug-related activities, and support rehabilitation efforts.

Together, we will be the champions of hope for those who are on the path to recovery so that they may contribute positively to society as well.

Maraming salamat at mabuhay kayong lahat!
