Speech

Remarks by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at the LGBT Pride Reception

Event LGBT Pride Reception
Location Heroes Hall, Malacañan Palace

PBBM: Thank you. Thank you. Maraming salamat. Sino ‘yung emcee diyan? Father? Para akong tumanda. [laughter]

Anyway, ang katotohan is that alam niyo, nakatira po kami doon sa kabila. Nandoon pa kami sa kabila ng Pasig River naririnig ko na ‘yung ingay dito. [cheers and applause]

Sabi ko, mukhang may masayang nangyayari over there so kailangan sumama. [cheers and applause]

Of course, our First Lady… I have to apologize for gatecrashing your party, but I am happy that you are all here. Welcome to the Palace. [applause] And you’re all bloody fabulous by the way.

So, thank you. I just wanted to say hello and to know that — you know we in the Philippines ay ang habol lang naman talaga natin is that everybody is treated not for any other thing, not for race, not for creed, not for orientation, but just as Filipinos. And that this government, that’s what it’s trying to do.

But of course, we have — there are many… I’m sure the First Lady Liza is even better briefed on the legal issues that impact upon your community.

And I’m sure again, as long as we stay true to the idea that basta Pinoy, Pinoy ‘yan eh. Wala ng ano ‘yan. No questions asked. That’s it. We should all be treated the same. And that’s what we are continuing to try to do.

We, in the Philippines, hindi naman tayo masyadong ano.

Kaya’t that’s the principle that we follow with this administration and with this government.

So, I’m sorry to interrupt but thank you very much. I just wanted to say hello. [applause]
