President Marcos directs DOTr to fast-track infrastructure for stronger connectivity and a better commute

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has issued clear directives to newly appointed Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon: fast-track key infrastructure projects to enhance connectivity, ensure commuter safety, and drive economic growth.

Recognizing that a modern and efficient transport system is fundamental to national progress, President Marcos emphasized that infrastructure is more than just building roads and railways—it is about delivering safe, reliable, and future-ready mobility for millions of Filipinos.

“Mamarapatin namin in the next couple of days na habang nalalaman namin ang mga balakid, ang mga problema… na ang objective natin simple lang – pabilisin at ayusin para maging safe ‘no ang ating mga transport systems,” Dizon said in a press briefing at Malacañang. “At, importanteng-importante ‘to and I think ito iyong essence ng Build Better More: we have to build better and we have to build more – meaning, hindi na puwede ang puwede na.”

With this directive, the administration is doubling down on efforts to not only complete ongoing projects but also initiate new ones that will reshape the country’s urban mobility and transport landscape.

“And I think, that is the whole point of Build Better More, is to build better than what we have built in the past and to build more of that,” Dizon added.

Ensuring the successful and timely completion of these projects requires a collaborative effort. The administration is set to reinforce its whole-of-government with a whole-of-society approach, bringing together national agencies, local government units, and private sector partners to move key infrastructure
forward.

“Kailangan maintindihan ng lahat ng mga partners natin sa gobyerno, sa local government, sa pribadong sektor na kailangan silang mag-ambag dito sa mga kailangan nating gawing mga proyektong ito – at iyon ang gustong mangyari ng ating mahal na Pangulo,” Dizon emphasized.

Under the leadership of President Marcos, the administration is committed to transforming transportation infrastructure, strengthening connectivity, and ensuring that Filipinos have access to a safer, more efficient, and more dignified commuting experience. ###
