President Duterte confers Order of Lapu-Lapu to soldier, doctor

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Tuesday, February 13, conferred the Order of Lapu-Lapu medals to a soldier and a medical doctor for their invaluable services to the country.

In a short meeting in Malacañan, President Duterte recognized the contributions of Private First Class Romeo Esperida Jr. and Dr. Fabio Enrique Posas.

Esperida, a member of the 63rd Company of the Marines Special Operations Group, received the Order of Lapu-Lapu with the Rank of Kampilan for his acts of valor during the Marawi siege, which left him with serious limb and sight injuries.

Posas, meanwhile, received the Order of Lapu-Lapu with the Rank of Kamagi for his generosity, experience and expertise in successfully saving the life of critically-wounded Private First Class Esperida.

Posas is an interventional cardiologist and structural heart and endovascular specialist at St. Luke’s Hospital in Quezon City.

The Kampilan medal is awarded to officials and personnel of the government and private individuals who were seriously wounded or suffered a great loss of property as a direct result of their participation in activity pursuant to a campaign or advocacy of the President.

The Kamagi medal, on the other hand, is awarded to those who actively participated in and contributed significantly to an activity pursuant to a campaign or advocacy of the President. PND
