PBBM turns over 360 housing units to residents affected by Manila Bay rehabilitation program; leads groundbreaking ceremony of Ciudad Kaunlaran Project Phase II

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. turned over on Friday 360 housing units of the Ciudad Kaunlaran Project Phase I in Bacoor, Cavite and led the groundbreaking ceremonies for the second phase of the project.

In his speech, President Marcos said the Ciudad Kaunlaran Project is a collaborative effort of the National Housing Authority (NHA), the local government unit of Bacoor and other government agencies and private sectors.

“Bilang agarang tugon, pinabilis po natin ang kanilang relokasyon sa bagong Pabahay na ligtas, de-kalidad, komportable at may maayos na pamayanan,” the chief executive added shortly after leading the groundbreaking ceremonies of the Ciudad Kaunlaran Project Phase II.

The target completion date for the relocation or turnover of all the housing units under Phase I will be finished before March while two more buildings will be constructed under the second phase of the project, which can accommodate up to 120 families.

The second phase of the project is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2025.

President Marcos said the NHA was able to construct over 80,000 housing units nationwide as part of the government’s efforts to provider shelter to Filipino families including the PhP700 million budget through the Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP).

The budget was funded for families who were affected by natural and man-made disasters.

Marcos added that the government is also closely working with Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jerry Acuzar to continue the construction of housing units for those affected residents.

Before concluding his speech, President Marcos extended his gratitude to the residents of Cavite, local government officials and private sectors for the realization of the project as he greeted them a Happy New Year. PND
