Education modernization part of Admin priorities—PBBM

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. vowed to modernize the country’s educational system.

During his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Batasan Pambansa on Monday, President Marcos said his administration is pushing for “educational reforms through technology and is working towards the day when all students will be equipped with computers, smart TVs, essential programs, digital books – and once again, access to reliable power and the Internet.”

“Digitalization and solar-powered electricity must now become the standard features in our schools and in our classrooms. Simply put, this is educational reform through technology,” the President said.

President Marcos also highlighted the need to address the “perennial problem surrounding textbooks.”

“The production of instructional materials, especially textbooks, which are up-to-date and error-free, must be ensured. The whole process, from approval of manuscript to procurement, all the way to distribution, will be cut short from its present three years to just one year,” President Marcos said.

The Chief Executive emphasized the transformation of the Philippine education system and improving the quality of education is a challenge for the new Education Secretary Sonny Angara to solve.

The President also said he wanted the teachers protected and ensure their welfare. PND
