Palace takes pride in Alex Eala’s biggest win at Miami Open 2025

Malacañang congratulated the Filipina tennis sensation, Alexandra Eala, for defeating world No. 2 Iga Swiatek in straight sets in the quarterfinals of the Miami Open 2025.

The Pinay pride beat her Polish opponent, 6-2, 7-5 to secure her historic spot in the WTA Tour 1000 event.

Eala, ranked 140th globally, is the first Filipina to reach the last eight of a Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) 1000 tournament.

The 19-year-old tennis player will face American and world no. 4 Jessica Pegula for a spot in the finals.

The semi-final showdown between Eala and Pegula will happen Thursday night (Friday, 8am Manila time).
