President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. assured Negrenses on Thursday that his administration will continue to help people in need by providing employment, state support, and livelihood through a whole-of-government effort.
“Asahan po ninyo na ang inyong pamahalaan ay laging nandito at nakikinig sa inyo,” President Marcos said during the Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas job fair at the Lamberto L. Macias Sports Complex in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
“Kaya’t huwag po kayong nahihiya. Kapag kayo’y may pangangailangan, sabihan ninyo po itong magigiting nating mga LGU, mga LGU executives, sabihin ninyo ang ating mga iba’t ibang department at iba’t ibang agency kung ano ‘yung pangangailangan ninyo,” he said.
The President said he visited Negros Oriental to oversee the grant of assistance by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and to ensure that job seekers get employed through coordination with employers.
The government has also established a one-stop shop composed of different agencies so job seekers can quickly obtain the clearances they need to apply for jobs and receive other services.
Aside from assisting people in finding employment, Negrenses could avail themselves of affordable products such as PhP29 per kilo of rice, vegetables, and other necessities from Kadiwa outlets, the President said.
Negros Oriental Gov. Manuel “Chaco” L. Sagarbarria said this is the third time President Marcos has visited Dumaguete City within two years, with the government providing more than PhP1 billion in assistance to the province.
Sagarbarria said the government is committed to providing the right jobs and sufficient wages to the people. He cited the 250-percent increase in the province’s tourism, which generated more jobs for Negrenses.
The Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas aims to empower Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries through employment opportunities, livelihood assistance, and access to critical support services.
Ten employers participated in the Dumaguete City job fair, offering employment and livelihood support opportunities.
Organizers offered 1,700 job vacancies in administrative and support service activities, construction, and wholesale and retail. | PND
