PCOO holds donation drive for Typhoon Odette

MANILA – The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) has set up a donation drive to extend its heartfelt solidarity to the victims of Typhoon Odette, especially in Visayas and Mindanao.

As of January 18, 2022, the PCOO collected a total of Php 71,940.00 worth of financial assistance and relief goods such as bottled water, flavored drinks, canned goods, clothes, pillows, and blankets.

The collected donations will be transported to Dinagat Islands and Surigao City through the assistance of the Philippine Air Force and the Philippine Coast Guard.

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said that the donations from PCOO officials and employees shall supplement ongoing efforts of the national and local government to respond to those affected by typhoon Odette.

“Although the Duterte administration and the PCOO have always committed ourselves to humanitarian assistance, disaster response, and climate resiliency, typhoon Odette truly left parts of the Philippines severely devastated, especially my hometown of Surigao del Norte. This initiative is meant not only to support the recovery of the affected areas from the impacts of typhoon Odette, but also raise awareness of civil action, mobilization, and the dreaded effects of climate change,” Secretary Andanar said.

The PCOO is closely coordinating with the local government units for the distribution of the donations.

The PCOO and its attached agencies, through the Integrated News Team and Laging Handa crisis communications initiative, continue to provide needed and timely information and updates regarding Typhoon Odette as well as other crises using all government instrumentalities.
