The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in the province of Oriental Mindoro has engaged the commitment of its local community members to effectively implement the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (SPLIT) project.
To this end DAR in Oriental Mindoro conducted “pulong-pulong” meetings in six (6) key barangays: Mayabig in the municipality of Baco, Canubing II in the City of Calapan and Brgys. Montelago, Montemayor, Masaguing and Bayani in the municipality of Naujan.
The SPLIT project involves the parcelization of lands and issuance of individual land titles to agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) who were previously awarded lands through collective certificates of landownership award (CCLOAs).
The meetings served as a vital platform for open dialogue and collaboration between the DAR, the SPLIT team, and the local communities to discuss and finalize the survey process for land subdivision, ensuring transparency and inclusivity throughout the project.
Agrarian Reform Program Technologist Jensen Ema said the meetings provided an opportunity for residents to voice their questions and concerns regarding the survey process.
“We believe that engaging the community directly is essential for the success of the Project SPLIT. By involving them in the planning and execution of the survey, we aim to address any concerns and foster a sense of ownership among the beneficiaries,” she said.
The DAR and the SPLIT team were able to address these concerns and provide clear explanations about the project’s objectives and timelines. This collaborative approach has been lauded by the ARBs, who expressed their appreciation for the DAR’s commitment to transparency and community engagement.
“Nagpapasalamat po kami sa programang ito ng DAR matutulungan kaming magkaroon ng sariling titulo na kailangang kailangan namin,” said Dionisio Comeros, one of the ARBs from Barangay Canubing II .
Engr. II Joseph Villaluz said the successful completion of the survey is a critical step towards the ultimate goal of Project SPLIT, which is to distribute individual land titles to deserving beneficiaries.
“The DAR remains committed to working closely with the communities throughout the entire process, ensuring that the SPLIT project benefits all stakeholders,” he said.
