Andanar: President Duterte is fit and healthy to perform his duties

Malacanan assured the public that President Duterte is fit and healthy to perform his job as the chief executive.

Reporters asked Communications Secretary Martin Andanar in a radio interview Sunday, Nov. 6 about the President’s health and he said President Duterte is not complaining anything about his physical and mental condition.

”Mas malakas pa sa kalabaw si Pangulo. Nakita naman natin sa TV kung ano ‘yung mga activities ni Presidente. Maya-maya nandon na sa Samar. Maya-maya nandon na sa Pangasinan,” Andanar said in an interview over dzRB Radyo ng Bayan.

“Tapos makikita mo ngayon sa Facebook live eh nandoon naman sa Davao. So ang taong hindi malusog, imposibleng magawa kung anong ginagawa ni Presidente.”

Andanar also said in the same briefing that the death of Albuera, Leyte mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. was “unfortunate.”

“Ito’y under investigation pa. So, gusto kong antayin kung anong resulta ng imbestigasyon. We don’t really know what exactly happened inside the prison cell. Merong mga nagsasabi na nanlaban,” Andanar said.

Although Senator Panfilo Lacson said it could be a case of extrajudicial killing, Andanar said the result of the ongoing police inquiry will shed light to why Espinosa was killed inside his prison cell.

”Pero in the end, it will be the investigation of the Philippine National Police that we will look into and we will depend our rationale or our comments on. So antayin na lang natin ‘yung imbestigasyon,” he said.

The Palace official also brushed off comments about the recent decision of the Australian government to issue travel advisory to its citizens about traveling to the Philippines cautioning them about terrorism and crime.

Australia, like other western countries, just want to protect their citizens, he said. PND
