President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Sunday praised overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Japan for their hard work, diligence and for putting the Philippine image in the global spotlight.

The President made this remark in a meeting with the Filipino community in Japan at the Belle Salle Tokyo Nihonbashi.

“Lahat ng makausap namin, sinasabi nila, hindi niyo na kami kailangang kumbinsihin kung gaano kagaling ang Pilipino dahil meron kaming empleyado, meron kaming kaibigan, merong kilala at alam namin na ang mga Pilipino ay mababait, masisipag, they’re honest, English-speaking pa,” the President said.

“Ang pinag-uusapan nalang namin… ay ano’ng gagawin natin para makapag-partner dito sa ating mga bagong pinaplano,” President Marcos added.

The President told Filipino attendees about the importance of fostering partnerships and alliances amid global turbulence and the threat of climate change.

“Lahat ito ay kailangan nating pag-usapan at kailangan nating pag-aralan, upang ang ating mga pinaplano ay tumama… at para sa bagong mga negosyo,” Marcos pointed out.

The chief executive also assured them of continued support through the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) led by Secretary Susan Ople.

President Marcos is on the final day of his official trip to Japan to strengthen Manila and Tokyo’s collaboration in a wide range of areas, including agriculture, renewable energy, digital transformation, defense, and infrastructure.

A total of 35 investment agreements on various areas of cooperation have been sealed between the Philippines and Japan on Friday, witnessed by President Marcos and his official delegation.

Apart from the 35 investment deals, the Philippines also sealed bilateral agreements with Japan to boost cooperation in various fields, including infrastructure development, defense, agriculture, and information and communications technology. #
