President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. lauded the United States for its successful chairmanship of the recently concluded 30th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting and related activities in San Francisco, California.

“I commended the chairmanship and the hosting of APEC 2023 by the US as they were able to provide for us a forum in which a good deal of important work was done in these past two days,” President Marcos told the Malacañang Press Corp during the Kapihan with the Media in San Francisco.

President Marcos said that the APEC Summit “was a very successful meeting” as it was participated in by many of the major economic leaders while “there was a very noticeable concurrence amongst different countries.”

The chief executive said that they have discussed several topics during the meeting.

“We talked about climate change. We talked about AI. We talked about food security, energy security, and what each of us – what part each of us can play in facing those challenges that the new economy has brought us,” the President said.

Before the end of the three-day APEC Summit, President Marcos said that he had a bilateral meeting with Peruvian President Dina Boluarte where they discussed a lot of topics, including their acceptance to host next year’s APEC Summit. | PND
