The administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has allocated P895.658 million in aid for victims of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine and Super Typhoon Leon, which is currently battering Batanes.
In a statement, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) said the allocation covers food and non-food items supplied by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) and local government units.
Contributions from various non-government organizations are also included in the allocation.
As of Thursday morning, the NDRRMC said there are already over 1.89 million affected families across the country. This translates to more than 7.49 million individuals. A total of 85,536 displaced families are in evacuation centers while 87,617 are outside temporary shelters.
The NDRRMC said 213 areas remain flooded. Floodwaters in 605 areas subsided while those in nine other areas are receding.
President Marcos earlier ordered concerned government agencies to continue providing necessary assistance to storm victims.
Meanwhile, damage and losses to agriculture in nine regions totaled to P2.9 billion. The regions include Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Ilocos, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, MIMAROPA, Bicol, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas and Socssksargen.
Damage to Infrastructure was over P6.390 billion for regions CAR, Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, MIMAROPA, Bicol, Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Soccsksargen.
NDRRMC reported a total of 150,511 damaged houses. Some 211 LGUs have a declared state of calamity. |PND
