More Kristine-hit roads now passable – NDRRMC

More roads and bridges affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine are now accessible to motorists following the clearing operations ordered by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. a few days ago.

In its report on Tuesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said 86.87 percent, or 86 out of 99 affected road sections, are now passable to all types of vehicles, helping restore normalcy in the communities affected by the storm.

The cleared roads also facilitated easier transport for the government’s ongoing relief efforts.

The NDRRMC also reported that power has been restored in 64.7 percent or 228  of 352 cities and municipalities that were earlier rendered powerless by the weather disturbance.

It also noted that government agencies provided 539,944 family food packs and 4,866 bags of rice, while the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued 169,769 individuals.

Additionally, the NDRRMC reported that 386 medical consultations were conducted. The Philippines also received international support from Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei, it added. | PND
