LGUs, civil defense units told to prepare for Tropical Storm Kristine

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has mobilized all local government units against Tropical Storm Kristine.

The move, according to the DILG Secretary, is in response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos’ directive to prepare the country for the typhoon’s impact.

“All units have been mobilized. All local government units have been informed,” Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla Jr. said in a press briefing.

Despite the unpredictability of the tropical storm, Secretary Remulla said all LGUs and civil defense units are on top of the situation.

Remulla also pointed out that a recommendation to suspend classes on October 22 and 23 was already issued to LGUs in Metro Manila and the entire Luzon seaboard. He added seacraft schedules were also suspended.

“Again, we advised all government units to suspend classes in the entire Luzon seaboard, buong Luzon ‘yan,” Remulla said.

Remulla also assured that evacuation areas and relief goods were prepared. |PND
