All Yolanda housing projects in Eastern Samar are set for completion this year, according to the Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD).
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar on Monday said this is in response to the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to finish all the housing projects in the typhoon affected region as soon as possible.
“Utos ng Pangulo: Tapusin ng NHA ang lahat ng Yolanda-housing projects dito sa Region 8 at sigurado lahat ngayong taon ay tatapusin ang problema sa Yolanda housing,” Acuzar said during the ceremonial turnover of Completed Yolanda Permanent Housing Projects in Burauen, Leyte.
“Naniniwala kami na ang okasyong ito ay magsisilbing panibagong pag-asa at inspirasyon para lalong magpursige sa buhay. Sa pamamagitan ng ligtas at disenteng bahay, matatag at maunlad komunidad,” he said.
Friday’s event manifests the Marcos administration’s determination to aid the recovery of families affected by Super Typhoon Yolanda, which devastated the region in November 2013.
President Marcos turned over 3,517 housing units in Yolanda-hit areas in Leyte, Samar, and Biliran, as part of the administration’s recovery program for the typhoon survivors.
The government has so far turned over 1,963 units to the beneficiaries, President Marcos said as he assured the government’s commitment to ensuring a more prepared and safe Philippines.
With the turnover, Leyte residents can now occupy the housing units at Cool Spring Residences, Mont Eagle Ville Subdivision, Coconut Grove Village, Dagami Town Ville and Pastrana Ville.
Housing units at the Marabut Ville Sites 1 and 2 in Samar are also ready for occupancy, along with units at the Culaba Housing Project in Biliran. | PND
