AFP air assets ready to airlift relief goods to Leon-hit areas

Air assets of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are ready to airlift relief goods and other supplies to areas affected by Super Typhoon Leon, the military’s spokesperson said on Thursday.

In a televised briefing organized by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), AFP Spokesperson Col. Francel Margareth Padilla said air assets were readied and loaded with relief goods and supplies and can fly to affected areas once weather conditions permit.

“Asahan po ninyo ang pagdating ng tulong sa mga nasalanta ng bagyong Leon kapag gumanda na ang panahon at pwede na pong ligtas na makalapag ang mga AFP aircraft,” Padilla said.

Padilla said aircraft from Indonesia and Brunei will boost foreign airlift support of Singapore’s C130 and Malaysia’s Eurocopter 725.

On Wednesday, two Indonesian aircrafts H225M and MI17V5 helicopters, and another from Brunei (C295) arrived in the country to back the ongoing rescue and relief operations in Kristine-hit areas.

Padilla thanked the foreign countries for the help. | PND
